Michael F. O’Neill, J.S.C. (Ret.)
served a decade on the New Jersey Superior Court, including nine years as Hunterdon County’s sole Civil Division judge. He oversaw thousands of civil, probate, class action, environmental, and complex insurance matters. Before joining the bench, he spent 25+ years as a senior partner handling high-stakes civil litigation and ADR. Since retiring in 2023, he has specialized in mediating sexual-abuse cases, including matters involving school districts, religious organizations, and related insurance disputes. Read full bio →

Thomas C. Miller, A.J.S.C. (Ret.)
served on the New Jersey Superior Court from 2011–2022, including as Presiding Civil Judge and later Assignment Judge for Vicinage XIII. He oversaw a wide range of civil, commercial, environmental, and affordable-housing matters and served as Special Master in the Abbott school litigation. Before the bench, he spent decades in private practice focused on real estate, land use, and governmental law. Since retiring, he has led a full-time ADR practice and co-founded Sidebar Solutions with Judge O’Neill.

Judge Julie M. Marino, P.J.S.C. (Ret.)
served on the New Jersey Superior Court from 2003–2024, holding leadership roles in both the Family and Criminal Divisions across Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties. She presided over complex family, criminal, and civil matters and previously practiced family law, served as a municipal prosecutor, and co-founded a law firm. She has also lectured extensively at judicial trainings and bar association programs on family law, litigation practice, and settlement techniques.

Stephen B. Rubin, J.S.C. (Ret.)
served on the New Jersey Superior Court beginning in 2002, with assignments in the Family, Civil, and Criminal Divisions, and later returned to the bench from 2016–2024, including work on contested probate matters. His 55-year legal career includes service as Hunterdon County Prosecutor, partner and solo practitioner, and counsel to multiple municipalities and agencies. He has held leadership roles on statewide committees, completed mediation training, and served as an arbitrator in the court-annexed program. Judge Rubin joined Sidebar Solutions in 2025.

Judge Kevin M. Shanahan, A.J.S.C. (Ret.)
retired in 2025 as Assignment Judge of Vicinage XIII after serving in nearly every division of the New Jersey Superior Court, including leadership roles in the Civil, Criminal, Family, and Special Civil Parts. He resolved thousands of matters—from complex civil, employment, and malpractice disputes to high-profile criminal and family cases—and guided the vicinage through severe judicial vacancies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before the bench, he spent 34 years as a trial lawyer, trying more than 300 jury cases and serving as a mediator, arbitrator, and trial-advocacy instructor.
